Urban Threshold is a visitor centre and observation tower proposal for Heaton Park, Manchester. The project explores the transition from the surrounding urban environment into the park’s natural landscape, using architecture to heighten a sense of separation, immersion and calm. The design is organised as a spatial journey: visitors move from open grassland through a partially submerged visitor centre, into woodland, and finally to an observation tower that reintroduces distant views of Manchester. The proposal uses landscape, movement, materiality and controlled views to create a gradual shift in spatial experience.

Musician’s Bolthole is a compact parasitic retreat designed for Jay Kay of Jamiroquai, positioned on the roof of Rebellion Manchester. The project explores how architecture can respond closely to a specific client’s identity, lifestyle and spatial needs within a constrained urban site. The final octagonal form developed from Jay Kay’s visual language creates an open interior organised around spaces for creativity, rest and performance preparation. Its elevated position, extensive glazing and surrounding greenery aim to provide light, privacy and connection to nature while offering a calm retreat from the noise and intensity of the music venue below, and surrounding urban environment.

Active Axis is a collaborative MSA LIVE project developed with Life Leisure for the Avondale Leisure Centre in Stockport. Working across mixed year groups, the team designed a flexible outdoor community space intended to support social interaction, well-being, learning and activity for a wide range of users. The proposal evolved through direct engagement with the community, which highlighted the need for more greenery, informal seating and safer circulation. The final scheme uses adaptable timber structures, planting and open activity spaces to create an inclusive environment that can change over time and encourage a stronger sense of community ownership.

Vernacular Detective is a research study of Syrian earthen dome architecture, exploring how climate, material availability, culture and patterns of inhabitation shape vernacular building traditions. The project studies the construction and spatial organisation of domed homes, from their modular courtyard layouts to the use of earth, straw and corbelled brickwork. This research was then translated into architectural drawings and a 1:50 physical model, using clay and natural materials to reflect the solid, earthen character of the original structures and their relationship with the surrounding environment.
